The Atwater Digital Literacy Project, a project of the Atwater Library, gets kids and community groups using creative web technologies (blogging, audio, video, digital photos) to find new ways to talk about things important to them, and to help them build their communities. (By the way, you can help us!) The Digital Literacy Project includes skill-building workshops, training and mentorships in new media arts such as:
The Atwater Digital Literacy Project is a volunteer-supported initiative, and builds its activites in cooperation with partner groups, including schools, youth groups, and community organizations. The project is geared to the needs of the Anglophone community in the downtown core and the area surrounding the Atwater Library, including St. Henri, Little Burgundy, Pt. Ste Charles, Downtown centre and NDG. By building partnerships between local new media practitioners, new media businesses, schools and local community service organizations we will create learning and employment opportunities for Anglophone youth in west-downtown Montreal. We will focus especially on teens considered to be vulnerable, and help them use creative new media tools for personal and professional development. |
