The Digital Literacy Project, a project of the Atwater Library, gets youth and community groups using creative web technologies (blogging, audio, video, digital photos) to find new ways to talk about things important to them, and to help them build their communities. The Atwater Digital Literacy Project is a volunteer-supported initiative, and builds its activites in cooperation with partner groups, including schools, youth groups, and community organizations. The project is geared to the needs of the Anglophone community in the downtown core and the area surrounding the Atwater Library, including St. Henri, Little Burgundy, Pt. Ste Charles, Downtown centre and NDG. Check out the short promotional video made By building partnerships between local new media practitioners, new media businesses, schools and local community service organizations the DLP creates learning and skills employment opportunities for Anglophones in west-downtown Montreal. We focus especially on marginalized youth and community groups considered to help them use creative new media tools for personal and professional development. |
